Obituary

Cyril "Cy" Bromley

1916-2010

Victoria Times-Colonist - Friday 10 December 2010

BROMLEY, Cyril Cy" Passed away to be with his Lord Jesus December 4th, 2010, at his favourite time of day sunrise. Cy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Malcolm and Louise, and his two grandchildren, Daniel and Sabina.

Born September 14, 1916, in North Vancouver, Cy served as radio officer in the Merchant Marine during WWII. Following the war, he married his childhood sweetheart Wendy Meredith, and settled in Northern Vancouver Island. There Cy worked as a B.C. Provincial Police officer and as an airport radio operator in the federal Department of Transport. In the 1950's, Cy worked in the Greater Vancouver region as a radio operator and licensing inspector.

In 1961, Cy moved with his wife and son, Malcolm, to Ottawa to work for the federal Department of Communications. In 1986, Cy and his wife retired to Sidney, B.C. In 2006, following Wendy's passing, Cy moved to Legion Manor in Saanichton where, true to his lively nature, he made many friends.

Cy generously supported animal and human rights, and Christian charities. He always had something funny to say and never passed up the opportunity to learn something new. His interests included reading, traveling, gardening, stamp collecting, and ham radio (VE7GCY). He made amazing breakfasts, for which his grandchildren will fondly remember him.

Sad to report the recent death of Cy Bromley who worked in Regs for many years before retiring to Victoria.
