Everett Young District Supervisor in the Kitchener District Office has retired after 32 years of service.

Collett, who occupied the position of District Supervisor in the Ontario-North District Office, retired after 32 years of service. Lyle Bates, District Supervisor in the Halifax District Office, has retired after 32 years of service. George Richard (left), Deputy Director General, Atlantic Region, is shown presenting Bates with a special retirement certificate.

 

Frank VanderZande, Supervising Inspector, receives a commemorative plaque for 25 years of public service from Ivan Cartwright, District Director in Prince George, B. C. VanderZande began his career in 1963 with the Department of Transport before transferring to the Department of Communi­cations in 1973, where he worked as a District Director and Supervising Inspector in various district offices.

 

Alex Winsor, Chief, Terrestrial Licensing System, Spectrum Management Operations Division of DGRR demonstrates the proper use of a personal floatation device at a luncheon held on the occasion of his retirement. Winsor was also presented with his 35­year service award and retirement certificate.

 

Jack Anderson, District Director for Vancouver Island recently presented Marlene Orchin, Office Manager of the Vancouver Island District Office with a certificate on the occasion of her retirement after 14 years of service.

Retirements

Allen Fast, Radio Inspector in the Vancouver Island Olaf Ebeltoft, Coordination Notification Officer in District Office, has retired after 32 years of service. Gertie Murphy, Administrative Assistant to the Director, Communications Applications in DGIE at Hugh Venis, Radio Inspector in the Skeena District CRC, retired after 19 years of service.

Jack Scott, a Radio Inspector with the London District Office is retiring after 37 years of government service. Scott enlisted with the RCAF in 1952 and joined the Depart­ment of Communications after retiring from the service in 1974. He plans to spend his retirement playing golf and practising his trumpet.

 

 

Jack Scott, inspecteur radio au bureau de district de London, prend sa retraite après 37 ans de service à la Fonction publique. Le premier emploi de Scott remonte à 1952, époque où il s'est engagé dans l'Aviation royale du Canada ; il s'est ensuite joint au ministère des Com­munications après s'être retiré de l'armée en 1974. Bill Hall, District Director, London District Office, is retiring after more than 43 years in the workforce. After working for the British Merchant Navy, Hall emigrated to Canada in 1953. He joined the Department in 1957, where he worked in various capacities before moving to London in 1983 to become the District Director. He will be missed by the staff from the London and Windsor offices.

 

Long service award

Nisar Ahmed, Director General, Engineering Programs, presents a 25-year service award to Guy Lavoie, Head, Spectrum & Standards and Maintenance & Calibration Support.

 

Gary William Winsnes, Authorization Supervisor for the Regina District Office, died December 20, 1988 after a three­month illness.

 A native of Ryley, Alberta, Winsnes graduated from the Calgary Technical Institute as an Electronic Technician in 1959. He began working with the federal government in the Department of Transport before joining the Department of Communications in 1969. Winsnes was Author­ization Supervisor for the past 13 years.

 

Friends and colleagues of Winsnes say he was very dedicated to his work and friends. His community work included involvement with the Boy Scouts of Canada and the ChristopherLeadership Course. He will be sadly missed by his colleagues.

 

Winsnes is survived by his wife Hilde and daughter Lanaya. He was predeceased by his son Trevor on September 23, 1988.

 

Bill Hall, directeur du bureau de district de London, prend sa retraite après plus de 43 ans sur le marché du travail. Après avoir travaillé dans la marine marchande en Angleterre, Bill a émigré au Canada en 1953. Il s'est joint au Ministère en 1957, où il a rempli diverses fonctions avant de déménager à London à titre de directeur de district. Le personnel-des bureaux de London et de Windsor gardera un bon souvenir de Bill.

Guy Lavoie, chef du Soutien à l'étalonnage, à l'entretien, aux normes et au spectre, reçoit des mains de S. Nisar Ahmed, directeur général des Programmes techniques, une médaille pour ses 25 années de service.

 

Gary William Winsnes, superviseur à l'Autorisation au bureau de district de Regina, est décédé le 20 décembre 1988 à la suite d'une maladie de trois mois.

Natif de Ryley (Alberta), Gary a obtenu un diplôme en techniques électroniques du Calgary Technical Institute en 1959. Au sein du gouvernement fédéral, il a d'abord été au service du ministère des Transports avant de se joindre au ministère des Communications en 1969. Il occupait le poste de superviseur à l'Autorisation depuis 13 ans.

 

Ses amis et collègues n'oublieront jamais son dévouement, tant pour son travail qu'envers ses amis. Gary s'intéressait activement à la vie communautaire et ceuvrait auprès du mouvement scout et duChristopher Leadership Course. Son absence sera durement ressentie par ses collègues.

 

Gary laisse dans le deuil son épouse Hilde et sa fille Lanaya. Son fils Trevor l'a précédé dans la mort le 23 septembre 1988.

 

Minister's Office

Raymond Patenaude, Chauf­feur for the Minister, has left the Department to work for the Minister of State for Transport. Denis Martin, previously with the Office of Privatization and Regulatory Affairs, now assumes Raymond's former position.

 

Louise Champagne is the new Clerk/Receptionist in the Minister's Office. She was previously with Energy, Mines and Resources Canada.

 

Danielle Carrier, formerly with Energy, Mines and Resources Canada, was appointed as Scheduling Assistant and Departmental Liaison.

Deputy Minister's Office

Michèle Santerre-Hébert, Secretary to the Chief of Staff, was appointed on an indeterminate basis.

SADM

Darryl Perry is a new Senior Planning Officer in the Planning u.. Liaison Division of DGIS. He was previously with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

Michel Lucas was promoted to the position of Chief, Media Relations in the Media and Public Relations Division of DGIS.

 

Cherryl Smith, formerly with the Cultural Initiatives Program Division of DGAP, has accepted a one-year secondment as a Communications Officer in the Media and Public Relations Division of DGIS. Cherryl will co-ordinate the Department's Twentieth Anniversary program.

 

Diane Lacombe was seconded for a six-month period to the position of Administrative Assistant to DGSP. Diane was previously with the Personnel Operations Division of DGHR.

 

Hélène Parisien, previously with Employment and Immi­gration Canada, has accepted a six-month secondment as a Word Processing Operator in DGSP.

Léonard St-Aubin, formerly with DGFP, was appointed as a Policy Analyst in the Broadcasting Policy Division of DGBP.

 

Margaret Fisher was promoted to the position of Monitoring and Tracking Clerk in the Sectoral Correspondence Unit.

 

Wayne Kelly and Paul Baril were promoted within the Museum Assistance Program Division of DGMH to the positions of Security Advisor and Fire Protection and Safety Advisor respectively.

 

Daryl Leitch was seconded for one year from the Financial Planning and Resource Utilization Division of DGFM to the Cultural Initiatives Program Division of DGAP as Chief, Contributions Management and Program Administration.

 

Lyne Jetté, Secretary to the DGIS, has accepted a one-year secondment as Secretary to the Director, Film, Video and Sound Recording Policy and Programs in DGBP.

 

Heather Dawe was seconded for a 10-month period from the Sectoral Correspondence Unit to the Film, Video and Sound Recording Policy and Program Division of DGBP as a Policy Analyst.

 

Bernard Miquelon, previously with the Public Service Commission, has accepted a one­year secondment as Director, Sector Management.

 

Steve Delroy, Chief Museum Consultant, has left the Canadian Heritage Information Network Division of DGMH to join the House of Commons.

 

Hal Kavanagh, Systems Programmer in the Canadian Heritage Information Network Division of DGMH, has joined private industry.
