The first meeting of all of DOC's District Managers was held in Touraine, Quebec, February 16-20. The 30 managers, who are the Department's representatives at the local level and report to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Spectrum Management (ADMSM), gathered to exchange information and discuss management and operating policies, practices and concerns at the government training centre, about 15 minutes from the nation's capital.

One highlight of the gathering was a reception at which Minister Flora MacDonald personally welcomed the group and thanked them for their efforts on the Department's behalf. Later in the evening, Deputy Minister Alain Gourd added his appreciation, and joked that it was good to have a meeting of "DMs".

La première réunion de tous les gestionnaires de district a eu lieu à Touraine (Québec) du 16 au 20 février. Les 30 gestionnaires, qui sont les représentants locaux du Ministère et qui relèvent du sous-ministre adjoint de la Gestion du spectre (ADMSM), se sont réunis au centre de formation du gouvernement, situé à environ 15 minutes de la Capitale nationale, pour discuter des politiques et des méthodes en matière d'exploitation et de gestion et pour échanger des renseignements et des idées à cet égard.

Le clou de la rencontre a été une réception au cours de laquelle la Ministre, M'm Flora MacDonald, a accueilli personnellement les membres du groupe et les a remerciés de leurs efforts au nom du Ministère. Plus tard dans la soirée, le sous-ministre, M. Alain Gourd, leur a lui aussi fait part de son appréciation et leur a dit, en faisant un jeu de mots en anglais, qu'il était bon d'avoir une réunion avec les « DM » (District Managers).

Durant leur séjour dans la région de la Capitale nationale, les gestionnaires de district ont aussi visité les locaux de l'administration centrale sur la rue Slater, le laboratoire de l'avenue Clyde et le Centre de recherches sur les communications à Shirleys Bay, en banlieue d'Ottawa.
