James Sighard (Jim) Semper

1921 - 2013

SEMPER, James Sighard
April 25, 1921 - January 1, 2013

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of James Semper of Winterburn, an extraordinary father, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, and friend at 91 years of age.

James led a long, full life and we will miss him tremendously.

Jim was born in Brandon, MB and moved to Vancouver, BC where he earned his ticket as a "radio operator", thus beginning a lifelong career with the Gov't of Canada, Dep't of Transport. This took him to the Yukon, NWT and finally Edmonton where he retired in 1981.

Jim thoroughly enjoyed 31 years of retirement, taking many classes to hone his skills as a dancer, musician, poet, and storyteller. Jim loved to joke that he was a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" but we loved his stories and poetry.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, sons Jim (Eyren) of Calgary, George (Linda) of Edmonton, daughter Pam of Stony Plain, and eight grandchildren; Tammy, Sam (Shawna), Tracy, Jessie, Connie, Brandon, Cameron, and Nathan; three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and special friends Vera and Nan.

James is predeceased by his wife Adeline and daughter Doris.

Please join us in a Celebration of Jim's Life on January 19, 2013 at Westlawn Funeral Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton at 2:00 p.m.

As Jim donated to the less fortunate throughout his adult life, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of choice.

Jim was a wonderful guy to work with. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face.
