Stuart Maxner

Served in the Merchant Marine during WWII and on Sable Island after the war

Retired from DOT in 1974

Here are a couple of photos about my father Stuart Maxner that I thought might be of interest.

Regards,

Steve Maxner, son of Stuart Maxner

My father Stuart Maxner with some radio gear in the basement of our DOT dwelling on Sable Island

Canso aircraft that occasionally bought supplies to Sable (we also received biannual supply deliveries by CCG ship).

The above photos to be credited to Steve Maxner, son of Stu Maxner.

Stuart was in the Merchant Marine and after the war was on Sable Island as an RO in 1945. He went back there in 1954-56 with his family and was there with John Melvin, who we know from the JAWS site. He became a Radio Tech with DOT and retired in 1974. I think he is shown above with his amateur transmitter, likely homebrew (?).

His son Steve was a telecom engineer with DOT and retired in 2006.
