With profound sadness, we say goodbye to a loving husband and father, George Edward Collett. Surrounded by his loving family he passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 19th, 2012 in his 77th year.
Beloved husband and best friend of Eileen Collett. Cherished father of Bonita Dua and Wayne of Cambridge and Blair and Jackie Collett of London. Wonderful grandpa of Rachelle Dua and Austin Collett, Kayli and Zachary McGuffin. George will be sadly missed by his siblings Charlie and Molly Collett, Calvin and Vera Collett, Lewis and Passy Collett, Frank and Irene Collett, Madonna Hollett and Ed, and Irene Penny and Dave. Also missed by his in-laws Ivy and Llewelyn Shears, Clifford and Linda Moss, and Ron Upshall. Missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Austin and Jessie Collett and sister Marie Upshall.
Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, March 24th, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. where a celebration of George’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. Special thanks to Dr. Sanatani and Nancy Gregg , Dr. Wall, Dr. Ferguson, and the V.O.N. In lieu of flowers, donations to the London Health Sciences Foundation – Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
This is sad news. I remember George as being a great supervisor during my early career in Northern Ontario. He was a people person with lots of caring values and a great coach. I believe he was a radio operator also in his early career. Doug Slomke from Sault Ste-Marie would know more. I did hear some great travel stories up North during the early days.

I was saddened to hear of Georges death. He and I worked together from 1965 to 1970 at Sault Ste Marie District Office. Since that was my first District Office after leaving the Acton Monitoring Station, George was my main instructor on the operation of a District Office. Before he arrived at the Sault, I believe he was a Radio Operator at Kapuskasing.
