Worked for the Department of Transport (DOT) for 37 years. Joined DOT in 1944. Retired in 1981 as Telecommunications Area Manager.

1924 - 2010

Lewis Albert Allan, loving husband of Dorothy (Maxwell) (MacDonald) Allan passed away on Monday April 5, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1924 in Saint John he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Folkins) Allan.

 

Lewis worked for Transport Canada for 37 years, retiring in 1981 as a Telecommunications Area Manager.

 

He was a member of the Masons St. Martins Lodge, United Church of Canada, FSNA and the Eastern Star Queen Mary #4.

 

He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife Dorothy he is survived by son William (Bill) Allan (Debbie) of Rothesay; daughter Christine de Jong (Frans) of Keswick Ridge; grandchildren Vanessa Allan of Saint John, Daniel Allan (Alyson) of Saint John, Jeffrey Allan (Michelle Paulin) of Saint John, Dr. Jennifer de Jong (Dr. Paul Thornton) of Lawrence, Kansas and Erik de Jong (Sabrina) of St. Stephen; great grandchildren Mattais de Jong, Jacob and Sophia Allan; brother Ronald Allan (Betty) of Rothesay; sister Dorothy Allan of Saint John; stepchildren Alex MacDonald (Elaine) of Head of St. Margaret's Bay, NS and Ian MacDonald (Jocelyn), their daughter Katharine of Dartmouth, NS; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (Burlock) Allan.
